Regular checkups are important for women of all ages. At Advanced Gynecology of Reno we provide a full range of general gynecologic care. Services include well woman visits, birth control services, menopause management, as well as urgent gynecologic needs.
What services are offered?
Advanced Gynecology of Reno provides well woman visits, birth control services, and urgent gynecologic care to women of all ages. We also provide care for gynecologic issues like pelvic pain, painful or heavy periods, abnormal discharge, menopausal symptoms, etc.
How often do I need a checkup and what is involved?
It is recommended that women who are reproductive age or older come for a visit yearly. At this visit a comprehensive evaluation of your gynecologic health is performed. Typically pelvic and breast exams are recommended for women 21 or older. Pap smears are performed for women between the ages of 21 and 65 at set intervals as recommended by the American Society of Cervical Cancer Prevention (ASCCP). Birth control usage and options can be discussed during this visit. Mammogram screening is recommended for women ages 40 and over without risk factors. The annual exam continues throughout the menopausal and post-menopausal years.
When do I need an appointment outside of my annual checkup?
Appointments are recommended any time a patient has concerning symptoms such as:
- Irregular periods
- Heavy periods or bleeding outside periods
- Pelvic pain
- Pain during intercourse
- Abnormal vaginal discharge
- Bothersome menopausal symptoms like hot flashes
