What is menopause?

Menopause is the time in your life when your menstrual periods naturally stop. At this time the ovaries stop making estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that helps control the menstrual cycle. Menopause marks the end of the reproductive years and is defined as the absence of menstruation for 1 year. The average age that women go through menopause is 51 years however anytime between the ages of 40 and 60 can be normal.
